It is a high-capacity cartridge format designed for compatible 20-inch by 4.5-inch housings and is commonly used in whole-house and higher-flow filtration applications.
These filters all capture sediment but use different media structures. PP and string-wound cartridges generally provide depth filtration, while pleated cartridges offer a large filtration surface.
GAC filters use loose granular activated carbon, while carbon block filters use compressed carbon media. Both are used for carbon filtration, but their flow and treatment characteristics differ.
Select a rating based on sediment size and the cartridge's position in the system. A staged system may use a coarse filter before a finer filter.
Only cartridges containing media specifically designed for selected metals, such as certain KDF configurations, should be considered for that purpose. A standard sediment cartridge does not remove dissolved heavy metals.
Standard sediment and carbon cartridges do not soften water. A compatible resin or other treatment cartridge specifically designed for hardness is required if water softening is the goal.
It may physically fit when the cartridge and housing dimensions match, but changing media changes the filtration function and may affect flow. Confirm that the cartridge suits the system and water-treatment objective.
