Frequently Asked About SimPure Y7P-BW Reverse Osmosis Countertop Water Filter

The SimPure Y7P-BW is designed to give you the cleanest water possible, removing nearly all contaminants through reverse osmosis. If you prefer to drink pure water without added minerals, that’s completely safe—especially with your nutrient-rich lifestyle. Many users choose to remineralize later based on preference, if in that situation, you can go for [SimPure Y7T-BW-A] [SimPure Y9A]. You’re in full control of what goes into your water.

The SimPure Y7P-BW countertop reverse osmosis system is designed for long-term use, with a typical lifespan of over 10+ years under normal conditions. To maintain optimal performance, the filters should be replaced regularly: 6 Months (CF Filter), 6 Months (RO Filter)---depending on your specific use.

That’s a great question—and one we sometimes hear from first-time users of reverse osmosis (RO) systems like the SimPure Y7P-BW.

The SimPure Y7P-BW removes up to 99.99% of total dissolved solids (TDS), including chlorine, heavy metals, PFAS, and other contaminants. This level of purification can make the water taste “flat” or less flavorful compared to tap water or spring water, which often contain minerals like calcium and magnesium that add taste—but can also come with unwanted pollutants.

What you're tasting is the purity. It’s completely normal for RO water to have a very neutral or bland taste because it lacks the minerals our tongues associate with flavor. Many people actually prefer this clean, crisp taste once they get used to it.

If you prefer a more “natural” taste, you can:
-Add a remineralization cartridge or drops to reintroduce healthy minerals. You can get this kind of RO system on our RO systems collection page.
-Use the water for tea, coffee, or cooking, where the pure base enhances flavor.
-Chill the water in the fridge—cooler temperatures often make RO water taste more refreshing.

The PH of purified water after filtration depends on the PH of your tap water. If the PH of your tap water is less than or equal to 7, then the filtered purified water is weakly acidic; if the PH of the tap water is greater than 7, then the filtered purified water may be weakly acidic or weakly alkaline. (It depends on the alkaline ion content of your tap water)
